
Balog Debuts to End Nuts' Skid

Modesto, CA. - Alex Balog helped the Modesto Nuts snap a five-game losing streak in a 4-2 defeat of the San Jose Giants on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
Balog (W, 1-0) made his season debut for the Nuts (22-38) on Friday and tossed five shutout innings allowing just three singles while striking out two and walking one. In the bottom of the fifth, Troy Stein crushed his third home run in his last three games. It was a two-run blast to crack a scoreless deadlock and put Balog in line for the win.
Jason Forjet (L, 6-4) threw well for the Giants (34-26) over 6.2 innings. He allowed just five hits with seven strikeouts and only one walk. He was charged with three runs and retired 12 in a row from the first through the fifth innings.
Max White went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Collin Ferguson walked twice and stole a base.
Jerry Vasto (S, 9/11) worked around a one-out single to toss a scoreless ninth and nail down the Nuts' triumph.
