Ten in a Row

Bakersfield Blaze News Release
The longball continues to be the great equalizer, and of dingers, the Bakersfield Blaze collected three, beating the Stockton Ports for the club's tenth straight win, 8-3, on Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Lukas Schiraldi got the start, and despite brief fits of wildness, the big righthander kept his club locked in a tight one.
Joe DeCarlo powered Bakersfield to an early 3-0 lead after Jay Baum and Daniel Torres reached on hits in front of him, before the Ports scratched the game back into a 3-3 tie after five innings.
In the 6th, Vinny Nittoli (W, 2-1) relieved Schiraldi and handled the Ports for a pair of frames.
Meanwhile, the muscle did the trick.
In the home half of the 6th inning, with Stockton starter Zack Erwin (L, 2-7) on the hill, Daniel Torres banged a single off the wall, DeCarlo earned a walk, and Justin Seager smoked a liner into the catwalk for the team's second three-run bomb of the night, and a 6-3 lead.
After a Ports pitching change, Gianfranco Wawoe tacked on what amounted to back-to-back jacks (with a pitching delay in between), and the Blaze extended their lead to 7-3.
The scoring concluded with Jay Baum and Torres going for two straight doubles in the 7th off Ports reliever Matt Stalcup.
Osmer Morales worked the 8th and 9th innings to finish the ordeal.
The Blaze ended the evening with a robust 14 hits, and the win moves the club to a season-best four games over the 500 mark at 32-28. The ten wins in a row is, of course, a season high.
The club will look to make it 11 on Saturday night. It's Fireworks night at Sam Lynn, with first pitch set for 7:45pm.
