BAKERSFIELD, October 30, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam today announced that Tyrone Ellis, Ira Newble, and Tyler Gatlin have been named Assistant Coaches to Head Coach Chris Jent's coaching staff for the 2015-16 season. In addition, Louis Lehman will serve as Assistant General Manager while Dylan DeBusk has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations. Jonathan Mak returns to Bakersfield as the team's Head Athletic Trainer and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Ellis is in his first season with the Jam and will serve as Lead Assistant Coach. He spent the 2014-15 season as Lead Assistant Coach with the Grand Rapids Drive, and held the same role with the Reno Bighorns (2013-14) and the Tulsa 66ers (2012-13). In addition, he was an Assistant Coach with the Sacramento Kings Summer League Team in 2014 and with the Phoenix Suns Summer League Team in 2010.

Prior to his coaching career, Ellis played professionally for 11 years, most of which were in Europe with stops in Spain, Germany, Turkey, and Italy. He spent four years as a member of the Republic of Georgia's National Team, helping them advance to Europe's illustrious A Division. In 2001, Ellis played in the inaugural season of the NBA Development League, where he was drafted 42nd overall by the Huntsville Flight.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Ellis received both a Masters of Education in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Marketing from Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Newble enters his first season with the Jam. Previously, he was an Assistant Coach for the Austin Spurs during the 2012-13 campaign. He made his coaching debut in 2011 where he served as an Assistant Coach with the Canton Charge.

Newble brings over 10 years of playing experience, eight of those coming from the NBA. He finished the 2007-08 NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003-08, and the Atlanta Hawks from 2001-03. He also suited up for the San Antonio Spurs during the 2000-01 season. Newble played under current Jam Head Coach Chris Jent from 2006-08 with the Cavaliers, when Jent was an Assistant Coach. In addition, he spent time in the CBA, IBA, and in Europe (Israel, Spain, and Cyprus).

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Newble played college basketball at Miami University in Ohio (1995-97).

Gatlin is in his first season as Assistant Coach with the Jam. Gatlin joins Bakersfield after spending four seasons (2011-2015) with the Texas Legends where he held roles as Video Coordinator, Scout, and Assistant Coach. During his time with the Legends, he was also an Assistant Coach for the North Dallas Vandals of the ABA before being promoted to Head Coach for the 2012-13 season. In 2010, Gatlin served as General Manager for the Dallas Impact (ABA).

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Gatlin graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies in 2010.

Lehman will serve as the Assistant General Manager of the Bakersfield Jam while also maintaining his role as the Phoenix Suns Basketball Operations Coordinator. Lehman is entering his second season with the Suns after a two-year stint as an intern under the organization.

Lehman earned his Bachelor's Degree in Management at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2011.

After spending a year on the bench as the Jam's Assistant Coach and Video Coordinator, DeBusk has been promoted to Director of Basketball Operations. Prior to joining Bakersfield in 2014, he was a Basketball Operations Assistant with the Iowa Energy.

DeBusk, originally from Cave Creek, Ariz., graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. During his collegiate years, DeBusk was a student manager of the school's Men's Basketball Team for two years.

A board-certified athletic trainer, Mak returns for his third year with the Jam. After spending his first two seasons as the Assistant Athletic Trainer/Strength & Conditioning Coach, the 2015-16 campaign will mark Mak's first year as Head Athletic Trainer and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Most recently, Mak served as one of two athletic trainers to represent the NBA D-League Select Team while also assisting the Phoenix Suns medical staff at the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The past two summers, Mak has provided athletic training coverage at the 2014 and 2015 NBA Development League Elite Mini-camps while working at a sports medicine clinic in Chicago.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mak earned his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Illinois State University where he worked with their men's basketball, football, and women's soccer teams. Through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, he is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) who is trained in sports nutrition.

Also joining the Jam staff this season is Gordon Pang (Assistant Athletic Trainer), Renelle Gisyer (Entertainment Production and Community Relations Manager), and Brian Mahoney (Arena Manager).

Pang begins his first season as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Bakersfield. He previously served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of San Francisco from 2012-2014, working primarily with Women's Volleyball and Sand Volleyball.

The San Francisco native earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific in 2012 where he acted as the Head Athletic Training Student as a senior. Pang also served as a student manager for the Men's Basketball team throughout his undergraduate years. He gained valuable basketball experience working Stanford Men's Basketball camps during the summer of 2015.

Pang is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is also a member of the NATA.

Gisyer enters her second season with the Jam, first as Entertainment Production and Community Relations Manager. Last season as the Public Relations and Business Operations intern, Gisyer assisted the front office with daily tasks and projects, along with game-day operations. Prior to joining the Jam, she worked over five years in customer relations.

Born and raised in Bakersfield, Gisyer graduated from California State University of Bakersfield with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communications with a focus on Public Relations. She was also part of CSUB's Gamma Phi Beta sorority holding positions such as Social Chair (planning and hosting events), Panhellenic Affairs Vice President (recruiting and monitoring all sororities), and liaising for the sororities.

Mahoney returns for his second season, first as Arena Manager. Last season, Mahoney served as a game-day intern for the Jam and Phoenix Suns, assisting the basketball operations department and athletic trainers. Prior to joining the Jam, he worked three years at California State University Fullerton's athletic department where he helped organize soccer and rugby events at Fullerton's Titan Stadium.

A Bakersfield native, Mahoney graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Business Finance.
