Bakersfield Jam Acquire Jerel McNeal from Vipers

BAKERSFIELD, November 2, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam have acquired guard Jerel McNeal (6'3", 200, Marquette) from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in exchange for James Anderson (Affiliate player).

McNeal, former NBA D-League All-Star, played and started in 47 games for the Vipers during the 2010-11 season, averaging 19.4 points on .458 shooting with 4.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.4 minutes per game. Most recently, McNeal attended the Toronto Raptors 2012 training camp.

During the 2011-12 season, McNeal played in 32 games for the Sutor Montegranaro (Italy-SerieA) and averaged 10.7 points, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 25.3 minutes per game.

A product of Marquette University, McNeal finished his collegiate career as the school's all-time leader in points (1,985), steals (287) and games played (130). He was named Big East's Defensive Player of the Year his sophomore season (2006-2007) and was named to the All-Big East First Team as a senior averaging 19.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals in 35 games.

In addition, the Bakersfield Jam on Wednesday traded their third and fourth round selection in the 2012 NBA Development Draft to the Maine Red Claws in exchange for their third round pick in 2013.

The 2012 NBA D-League Draft begins today at 4pm PT live via teleconference. The Bakersfield Jam will have draft pick #11 and a total of seven picks in the draft.
