Bakersfield Condors News Release
Atlantic City, NJ â Scott Horvath scored twice for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in a game that featured 10 fighting majors and over 80 combined penalty minutes, as they defeated the Bakersfield Condors 5-2 in front of 8,570 fans at Boardwalk Hall on Sunday afternoon.
Atlantic City opened a 2-0 lead during the first period with a pair of even strength goals. Jon Cullen notched his 23rd goal of the season at 9:56, and Scott Horvath ripped a wrister past Shane Bendera with just seven seconds remaining in the stanza. In a much-anticipated first period bout between Jon Mirasty and Kam White, the rookie took down the Bullies defenseman in an even tilt. They squared off during a 100-plus PIM third period on Wednesday night while White was on the bench, earning a one-game suspension for Mirasty.
Dave Reid extended the lead for Atlantic City, burying a wrist shot from between the circles immediately after a Bullies power play expired at 6:25. The Condors got on the board a few minutes later, as Jimmy Drolet tallied his sixth of the season with a one-timer at 9:50. The Bullies outshot Bakersfield 17-6 in the period.
The Condors pulled within a goal just past the midway point of the game, with Paul Willett banging in his eighth of the season at 12:14. But Atlantic City proved to be too much today, as they regained the lead less than a minute and a half later. Pierre-Luc Sleigher notched his ninth of the year at 13:30. Horvath netted his second of the night on the power play with just over a minute remaining to bring about the final score. The Condors had more fight left in them, however, as Mirasty and White matched up again in the third period. Todd Alexander and Mike Barrie also got into third period scraps just three seconds apart late in the game.
Bakersfield takes on the Roanoke Express on the road on Tuesday night at 4:00pm PDT.
