Pride drop 6-3 decision to Ice Pilots

FLORENCE, SC -- The Florence Pride lost their third consecutive game Sunday afternoon, falling to the Pensacola Ice Pilots 6-3.

The Pride led 2-1 late in the second period, only to see the Ice Pilots pull even with 1:36 to go in the period. Tyler Beechey hit Dwayne Hay streaking up the right-wing side, and his shot beat Sebastien Laplante to even the game heading to the third period.

Just 59 seconds into the final period, Pensacola went ahead for good on Jade Galbraith's second goal of the game.

Brett Gibson scored a pair of goals 2:08 apart midway through the third period to give the Ice Pilots a 5-2 lead.

Florence pulled within two at the 16:51 mark as Luke Earl scored a shorthanded goal.

The Pride pulled Laplante, but it was to no avail, as Gibson completed the hat trick, scoring into the empty net with 27 seconds to go.

Florence is back in action Tuesday night, playing at Gwinnett at 7:00. The Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show starts at 6:40 on WDAR Sunny 105.5. The Pride are home Friday night, hosting the Columbia Inferno at 7:30.
