Darrell Ceciliani tied the game at one with a RBI single in the first inning, though the Herd fell to the PawSox 7-4 on Saturday.

The Bisons fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 7-4 on Saturday. Buffalo's loss snaps a three game winning streak for the Herd, and puts the team a game under .500.

The fourth annual Blue Jays weekend at Coca-Cola Field kicked off on Saturday, with the Bisons wearing Blue Jays inspired powered-blue uniforms, and a Marcus Stroman bobblehead giveaway. Unfortunately for the many Blue Jays' and Bisons' fans in attendance, the Herd failed hold a 3-2 lead in the fourth.

Bisons' starter Scott Diamond allowed just two runs through the first five innings, before running into trouble in the sixth. After loading the bases with two outs, David Aardsma enter the game and walked in the tying run. He then surrendered a two-run double to Sam Travis, as Pawtucket took a 5-3 lead.

"That's probably his roughest outing right there," manager Gary Allenson said postgame. "Chalk it up, you're not going to pitch great all year. He actually left with a 3-2 lead but we couldn't stop the bleeding."

Red Sox centerfielder Ryan LaMarre lined a single to left to begin the ballgame, but a misplay by Dalton Pompey allowed LaMarre to reach third. He scored on a sac-fly by Justin Maxwell, putting the PawSox up 1-0. In the bottom of the inning, Darrell Ceciliani flared an opposite-field single to left to score a rehabbing Devon Travis, tying the game at one.

Buffalo benefited from two Pawtucket errors in the fourth to tie and retake the lead. With runners on first and second, Tony Sanchez put down a successful bunt to third. Third baseman Chris Dominguez's throw to first was dropped by first baseman Sam Travis, allowing the tying run to score. The Herd then took the lead on another error, this time on Dominguez. Casey Kotchman scored on a ground ball by David Adams, which ate Dominguez up at third.

The Bisons totaled 10 hits in the game, including two hit showings from Jesus Montero and Andy Burns, but it was not enough to keep the Herd's three-game win streak going.

"I like it when we get 10 hits, but they swung the bats better than we did today, and they got some clutch hits," Allenson said.

Casey Kotchman made a web gem at first base to lead off the top of the fifth. Ryan LaMarre grounded a ball in the hole at short, and the throw to first by Andy Burns pulled Kotchman off the bag. The all-time MLB leader in fielding percentage among first basemen tumbled, yet applied the tag to LaMarre for the out.

The Red Sox retook the lead in the top of the fifth, as Deven Marrero scored Justin Maxwell on a sac-fly. The Bisons' kept it a one-run game, thanks to centerfielder Ceciliani throwing home on a single by Mike Miller, stopping Sandy Leon's attempt to score.

Pawtucket made it 6-3 in the seventh off David Aardsma, with Sandy Leon scoring Bryce Brentz on a sac-fly, despite a great throw home from right fielder Domonic Brown. In the eighth, Chris Marrero made it a 7-3 game, driving home Mike Miller with a double off Chad Jenkins.

PawSox starter Sean O'Sullivan was removed after four innings of work, allowing seven hits, one walk, and three runs, two of which were earned. Robby Scott fired three and 2/3 innings in relief, picking up his third win of the year. Jesus Montero took Scott deep for his fifth home run of the year in the eighth, putting the Herd within three runs, though the game with end with a score of 7-4. Pat Light shut the door in the ninth, striking out David Adams looking on a 101-mile an hour fastball to end the game.

Devon Travis went 1-4 in his third rehab game with the Bisons. Travis, a call-up with the Blue Jays last season, looks to return to Toronto after left shoulder surgery performed last October.

"I feel like I'm getting close, it's a process," Travis said postgame. "When it comes to my shoulder, I don't even think about it anymore, it's been really good. "Now it's just about getting back in the flow of things." The second baseman also expressed his approval of the Bisons' Blue Jays-themed uniforms. "Those jerseys today were sick, those are real nice," he said.

Wade LeBlanc looks to build on his string of three straight starts of pitching six or more shutout innings on Sunday, as he will take the mound for the Bisons against William Cuevas in the Herd's series finale against Pawtucket. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field. Blue Jays Weekend will continue on Sunday, with former Jays Jesse Barfield and Devon White taking part in an autograph session at the park from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

BISONS NOTES:

Left-handed reliever Aaron Loup joined the Bisons prior to Saturdays game on a rehab assignment. Loup is currently on the Blue Jays' disabled list with a left elbow flexor strain. He previously appeared in three rehab games earlier this month with Single-A Dunedin. Loup joins fellow reliever Bo Shultz and second baseman Devon Travis as MLB players currently rehabbing with Buffalo... Junior Lake did not play on Saturday; the first time he did not appear in a game this season. He was the only remaining Bison to play in all previous 42 games this season. Scott Diamond ends his string of five straight starts of allowing three runs or fewer, a stretch that began with six shutout innings against Rochester on April 24. He did, however, throw over 100 pitches for the first time this season... The Bisons' have now allowed a run in the first inning in their last five games.
