Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton pushed their win streak to five straight games tonight with a 3-2 win over the visiting Norfolk Admirals. Jim O'Brien led the Sens offensively with a goal and an assist while Nathan Lawson earned his fourth straight victory with a 36 save performance.

After a scoreless opening period, Norfolk struck just over two minutes into the second period as Rickard Rakell added to his team leading goals putting home his ninth of the season. Binghamton responded just 35 seconds later when Matt Puempel one-timed a Stephane Da Costa pass to beat Norfolk's John Gibson evening the score at 1 apiece. Just over midway through the period, the B-Sens grabbed its first lead of the contest when Andre Petersson roofed a puck over Gibson's left side after a great look from Shane Prince.

Binghamton extended their lead at the 10:54 mark of the third period when O'Brien put home a great feed from Prince right on Norfolk's crease to extend the Admiral's deficit to 3-1. Emerson Etem managed to put home a tally with just over 30 seconds remaining, but it was too little too late as Binghamton managed to stay atop the East Division in the final game of 2013.

Lawson stopped 36 of 38 shots faced to improve to 12-4-0 for the year while Gibson fell to 10-9-3. Binghamton will return to action this Friday and Saturday with back-to-back home games before ending their week on the road Sunday in Wilkes-Barre.
