Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators faced the Adirondack Phantoms at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena tonight. After losing two-straight games on the road earlier this week, a determined B-Sens team buckled down and rolled to a 5-2 victory over the Phantoms.
Cole Schneider kicked things off for Binghamton in the opening period as he cashed in on a shorthanded penalty shot at 14:31. Schneider would keep things rolling scoring his second of the night at the 15:53 mark to give the home team a 2-0 advantage. Mark Stone and Stephane Da Costa combined for the assists.
The B-Sens maintained their strength into second as Pat Cannone scored his eighth of the year just 3:12 into the period, courtesy of Louie Caporusso and Shane Prince. Mark Borowiecki would give Binghamton a sizable 4-0 lead after dumping one in on the Adirondack net at 5:11 with the help of Stone and Schneider. The Phantoms would finally get their first tally of the game on the power play as Jason Akeson put Adirondack on the board at 16:19. Danny Syrvret and Garrett Roe drew the helpers on Akeson's goal.
The Phantoms cut the B-Sens lead in half after Eric Wellwood put the puck away on an early power play opportunity in the third. Jon Sim and Roe earned the assists on the play. Binghamton would take back control as Derek Grant increased his team leading goal total to 18 at 7:35 after receiving helpers from Wacey Hamilton and Borowiecki.
Nathan Lawson earned his tenth win of the season after making 37 saves on 39 shots. Cal Heeter walked away with the loss for the Phantoms after stopping a total of 35 on 40 shots.
The B-Sens return to action tomorrow as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tickets to the game are $19 for side and $18 for end seats. Fans can purchase tickets through the B-Sens executive office by calling (607) 722-SENS (7367), the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office, and all Ticketmaster outlets.
