BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Robert Gsellman takes the mound for the 15th time as a B-Met and first time since August 19. The righty missed one start on the disabled list and returns to face the Fisher Cats for the second time this season. The California native has gone 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his last seven starts. He will close the season capped at five innings in his remaining starts.
NEW HAMPSHIRE STARTER: RHP Casey Lawrence takes the mound for the 25th time this year for New Hampshire and faces Binghamton for the first time since June 22. The righty from Pennsylvania tossed eight scoreless innings against Portland on Tuesday and earned his team-leading 12th victory of the season. He has registered a decision in all 24 starts in 2015.
CHIPPING AWAY: Binghamton's win on Saturday night lowered their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to six. Binghamton moved to within three games of the first-place Fightin Phils as Reading lost on the road against Bowie.
THE ROAD AHEAD: Binghamton opens a four-game series against the first-place Fightin Phils on Monday night in Reading. The B-Mets close the regular season against Altoona at home with a four-game series next weekend.
WE'RE GOING STREAKING: TJ Rivera extended his hitting streak to a season-best nine games with a two-hit performance on Saturday night. Xorge Carrillo stretched his season-best streak to eight games with a two-hit game.
EL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: The Eastern League announced Gavin Cecchini as the 2015 Rookie of the Year on Friday. In his first full season, the Louisiana native has hit .317 over 109 games and compiled 38 multiple-hit games. He is the third B-Met to receive the honor joining Bobby Jones (1992) & Paul Wilson (1995).
ONE MORE TIME: The Mets announced that Major League rehabber Steven Matz will make another start with the B-Mets. The southpaw is slated to throw 80 pitches on Monday night against Reading.
CLOSING IT OUT: Binghamton has gone 21-18 in series finales and 10-9 on Sundays this season.
POSTSEASON ALL-STARS: Shortstop Gavin Cecchini, utility fielder Josh Rodriguez and starting pitcher Michael Fulmer were all recognized as Eastern League Postseason All-Stars on Friday. Binghamton's trio matches a franchise record for highest number of members of a postseason All-Star team.
SHUTTING IT DOWN: Jon Velasquez fanned two in the ninth on Saturday to earn his 18th save. As a team, the B-Mets have notched 42 saves, an Eastern League best.
STRINGING 'EM TOGETHER: Binghamton has won four straight games, their longest winning streak since they rattled off six straight from July 17-22.
GETTING THE BROOMS READY: The B-Mets are bidding for their second four-game sweep of the season. Binghamton took all four against the Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field in July. It was part of a stretch in which Binghamton went 11-1 over a dozen games.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets open a four-game series against Reading on Monday night at 6:35 PM. LHP Steven Matz gets the ball on Major League rehab against RHP Jake Thompson.
