LOVES PARK, IL - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, split a double-header with the Evansville Otters this afternoon at Aviators Stadium.

Game 1

Former Rockford Aviator, Connor Little, pitched a gem for the Evansville Otters today, earning the win against his former team. Little pitched six innings and allowed just one run on six hits while walking three and striking out six batters.

The Otters jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Aviators pitcher, Ryan Bonnot, issued three free passes, one that scored a run, and allowed the Otters to take the lead.

Bonnot, in his professional debut, earned a loss as he pitched 4.2 innings and allowed six runs, four of which were earned, on three hits. He also walked six batters and struck out five.

The Otters increased their lead in the third inning on a two-run home run by Shane Houck, his 21st of the year, that gave the Otters a 3-0 lead.

The Aviators responded in the bottom half of the inning with their first run of the game, a RBI-double by Tanner Witt that cut the lead to 3-1.

J.R. Higley recorded a RBI-single that scored Cory Urquhart in the top of the fourth inning and Urquhart followed up his run in the fourth with a two-RBI single of his own in the fifth that increased the score to 6-1.

In the top of the seventh inning, Josh Smoker surrendered a solo home run to Chris Sweeny, his 18th of the year, to give the Otters a 7-1 lead.

Kyle Dhanani responded with a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the seventh inning, his first long ball of the year, but the Aviators were unable to muster a comeback and would eventually fall 7-2.

Game 2

The Aviators avoided the sweep and split the double-header with the Otters after posting a 4-2 victory in the final game of the series.

Kyle Brueggemann earned his third straight win after pitching five innings and allowing just two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out six batters.

The Aviators scored all four runs in the bottom of the second inning when Kenny Bryant scored on a wild pitch and then Michael Hur hit a three-run home run to put the Aviators up 4-0.

The Otters didn't go away quietly as they pushed a run across in the top of the third inning when Phillip Wilson scored on a wild pitch by Brueggemann. They would also push a run across in the top of the fifth inning as Chris Elder smacked a RBI single that scored Wilson again to make the score 4-2.

The Aviators will be back in action on Tuesday night on the road against the Schaumburg Boomers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and fans can listen to the broadcast on the Meridix Network. The link to the broadcast can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
