Aviators Beat Slammers 12-1 to Win Series V. Joliet

Tony Rizzotti (2-0) hurled seven shutout innings and the Rockford offense banged out 16 hits as the Aviators defeated the Joliet Slammers (6-6) 12-1 to win the final and decisive game of a three game series between the teams in Frontier League baseball action Thursday night at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.

The Aviators (11-1) broke the game open in the third inning as they scored six runs against Joliet starter Brett DeVall (0-1). Tanner Witt's bases loaded single was the key hit in the inning as the Aviators sent 10 men to the plate during the rally. DeVall also surrendered RBI hits to Teo Martinez and Dusty Robinson before getting replaced by Jacob Butler. Robinson finished the night with four hits and three RBI, including three consecutive doubles later in the contest.

The Aviators continue their homestand by hosting the Traverse City Beach Bums in a three game weekend series beginning Friday night (7:05 pm) at Aviators Stadium. Friday night's contest will feature a bobblehead giveaway, a jersey auction and post-game fireworks.
