Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Remaining at the forefront of their industry, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are below the Minor League Baseball average for the price of a family of four to take in a game at BB&T Coastal Field. A survey of Pelicans prices for the 2010 season found that the average cost for such a family is $53.50 to attend a Pelicans game, over four dollars below the average price in Minor League Baseball.
The Pelicans' survey is based on the cost of four tickets in the Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck, four hot dogs, two sodas, two beers, a program, and parking. The Office of Minor League Baseball conducted a similar survey of all 160 MiLB teams this season and found that the average price for clubs around the nation and in Canada, while still extremely affordable for families for a night out, went up from $54.54 last season to $57.70 this year. The Pelicans breakdown is as follows:
- Tickets: 4 x $7.00 = $28.00
- Hot dogs: 4 x $2.75 = $11.00
- Soda: 2 x $2.50 = $5.00
- Beer: 2 x $4.75 - $9.50
- Parking: FREE
- Program: FREE
- Total: $53.50
This season's price comparison reinforces the Pelicans' claim to be the most affordable, fan-friendly option for entertainment on the Grand Strand. The Pelicans have already welcomed record crowds through the BB&T Coastal Field gates in the first month of the 2010 season. A franchise-high 16,215 fans witnessed the Birds' series win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks from April 8 through 11, more than any other total through a season-opening, four-game home series in Myrtle Beach.
Following a three-game road trip to Kinston this weekend, the Pelicans return home for their first multi-series homestand of the season from April 27 through May 7. Myrtle Beach hosts the Potomac Nationals for three games beginning on Team Tuesday, the 27th . The series opens with the second Pelicans Poster Series giveaway that
night followed by an Elephant Webkinz giveaway on Webkinz Wednesday. Following Thirsty Thursday for the Pelicans-P-Nats series finale, the Birds welcome in the Frederick Keys for three more games over the weekend highlighted by Superhero Night featuring an appearance by Iron Man on May 1 and a racing jersey auction presented by Window World on May 2.
