Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Winston-Salem, NC - The worst hitting team in the Carolina League entering Friday night found its stride as the Blue Rocks busted out a season-best 10 runs on 17 hits to rally from a pair of deficits and halt the hottest team in baseball, beating Winston-Salem, 10-8. The Dash entered the game riding a baseball-best nine game string of success. But Jairo Cuevas (1-2) lasted seven innings for his first Wilmington win and Barry Bowden mowed them down 1-2-3, striking out the side in the ninth for his second save in as many days.
Game two of the three-game weekend set comes Saturday night at 7 p.m. Wilmington ace and top Royals prospect according to Baseball America Michael Montgomery (1-0, 0.50) will oppose fellow southpaw Justin Edwards (2-0, 1.50).
