Avalanche Sign Anderson to Entry-Level Contract

Swift Current, SK - The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club announced on Wednesday that the NHL's Colorado Avalanche have signed Broncos defenceman Josh Anderson to a three-year entry-level deal.

Anderson has been a vital part of the Broncos run this season and into the 2018 WHL Playoffs. In 29 regular season games for Swift Current, Anderson has collected seven points (2g-5a) to go along with a plus-8 rating and 32 penalty minutes.

The 19-year-old blue liner had spent his entire career with the Prince George Cougars before being acquired from the Broncos a couple days prior to the 2018 WHL Trade Deadline. Anderson was drafted by the Cougars in the first round, third overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

Listed at 6'3, 220 lbs, Anderson has skated in 206 career WHL regular season contests, amassing 35 points (9g-26a) since entering the league in the 2013-14 season. In 12 career WHL playoff games to date, Anderson has one assist and 12 penalty minutes.

Anderson also suited up for Hockey Canada at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and also claimed a silver medal with British Columbia at the 2013 WHL Cup.

The Broncos get back to the ice for a huge Game 5 against the Regina Pats on Friday, March 30th at the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm MT.
