Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union announced today that defender Auston Trusty has received an international call-up with the United States Under-23 team. Trusty becomes Philadelphia Union's sixth player to receive an international call-up from their respective federation.
Trusty joins fellow Union homegrown teammates Matt Freese and Mark McKenzie for the United States U-23 training camp in Miami, Florida, set to be held from October 6-15. The U-23 MNT is preparing for the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship this spring and will play El Salvador in a friendly (October 15) at Florida International University as part of the camp.
This will be Trusty's third call-up with the U-23s in 2019, having previously joined the team for a camp in Chula Vista, California from September 1-10, where he made an appearance as a substitute in a 2-0 victory in a friendly vs. Japan (September 9). Trusty was also a part of June's camp in Herriman, Utah from June 9-16.
The U.S. center back also received his first senior team call-up at the age of 20 at the beginning of the year for the USMNT's January camp and was on the matchday roster for friendlies vs. Panama (January 27) and vs. Costa Rica (February 2).
The complete list of Philadelphia Union international call-ups is now as follows: Brenden Aaronson (United States), Matt Freese, Mark McKenzie and Auston Trusty (all three players United States Under-23), Andre Blake (Jamaica), and Olivier Mbaizo (Cameroon Under-23).
