Austin Spurs to Hold Martin Luther King Jr. Day Essay-Writing Contest

AUSTIN, TX - The Austin Spurs, presented by SWBC, are hosting an essay-writing contest to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students in the Austin area from sixth to twelfth grade are invited to submit their essay, titled "What Martin Luther King Jr. Day Means to Me" along with their contact information to Perri Travillion at ptravillion@attcenter.com by Monday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m. in order to be considered to win. The winner will be selected by members of the Austin Spurs team.

The winner of the contest will be given four tickets to the Austin Spurs game on Saturday, Jan. 19 and honored during a pregame ceremony. They will also receive four tickets to the San Antonio Spurs game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Jan. 20. Their winning essay will be posted on the Austin Spurs website. The winner will be contacted no later than Wednesday, Jan. 16.

To celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the NBA, NBA G League and WNBA are supporting the national dialogue on race and equality through leaguewide efforts that bring people together, amplify the voices of fans and players, and take collective action in our communities.
