Austin Spurs Push Past Bakersfield 96-87

Cedar Park, TX - San Antonio Spurs assignee Ray McCallum and guard Orlando Johnson led Austin with 24 points each to a 96-87 victory against the Bakersfield Jam at Cedar Park Center Sunday night.
Austin (12-3) used a 7-2 run during the first three minutes of the first quarter to break open the game's first lead change. Bakersfield (8-10) would pull within two to finish off the first quarter, 23-21. Austin's Orlando Johnson and Bakersfield's Xavier Munford led all scorers with seven points in the quarter.
Bakersfield saw their first lead of the game at 11 minutes in the second quarter. Orlando Johnson responded with three points on a made two-point basket and foul shot to regain the lead for Austin, 26-24. Bakersfield would fight back to tie the game with five minutes left in the half, but Johnson would again respond with a three-point basket to give Austin the lead, 38-35 and they maintained the lead going into halftime, 47-41.
Austin started the second half on a 4-0 run led by Ray McCallum, but Bakersfield outscored Austin 23-22 in the quarter led by Renaldo Major with eight points. At the end of the third quarter Austin led Bakersfield 69-64.
Austin started the fourth with a five-point lead but Bakersfield went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to one with eight minutes left. Austin responded with an 11-0 run of their own, pushing their lead to 84-74. Austin would hold onto their lead to cap off a 96-87 victory. Xavier Munford paced Bakersfield with 20 points for the game.
