Bakersfield Falls to Austin 96-87

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Bakersfield Jam (8-10) were defeated on the road, losing 96-87 to the Austin Spurs (12-3) on Saturday evening.

Bakersfield finished the first quarter trailing 23-21. A Kyle Casey three-pointer at the 10:56 mark of the second quarter gave the Jam their first lead (27-26) of the game, but the Jam were unable to hold on to it and went into the break trailing 47-41.

Trailing by as many as 14 points in the third, the Jam put together a couple of runs to cut their deficit to single digits (69-64) heading into the final frame. The fourth period saw Bakersfield struggle defensively, as they allowed the Spurs to shoot 70.6 percent from the field and got outscored 27-23.

The Jam were paced by Xavier Munford's 20 points and five rebounds. Casey came off the bench and scored a season-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds, while Deonte Burton tallied 15 points. Renaldo Major added 11 points.

Ray McCallum, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, led Austin with 24 points, six rebounds and two steals. Orlando Johnson had 22 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while Cady Lalanne registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Jam will remain on the road and travel to Reno, Nevada to take on the Reno Bighorns on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
