Austin Spurs Capture 97-71 Win over Lakeland Magic

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Austin Spurs (4-4), presented by SWBC, defeated the Lakeland Magic (5-3) by a final score of 97-71 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Monday night.

San Antonio Spurs assignee Luka Samanic led the Spurs in scoring with 18 points (6-12 FG, 4-6 3FG, 1-1 FT) and 7 rebounds in 32 minutes. Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds in 33 minutes, while Drew Eubanks also chipped in 16 points (5-10 FG, 3-3 FT), 8 rebounds and 3 blocks in 28 minutes. Quinndary Weatherspoon posted 13 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Dedric Lawson contributed on the defensive end by bringing down 9 rebounds and blocking 3 shots in 26 minutes.

The Austin Spurs opened up the game on a 10-0 run, keeping the Magic scoreless until 7:50 left in the first quarter. The Spurs lead grew as high as 13 points during the first. With the Spurs' lead at 13, the Magic answered with a 11-2 run. Vic Law scored 10 points during that run, bringing the score to 21-17 to end the quarter. The Spurs and Magic scored 17 points apiece in the second quarter, giving the Spurs a 38-34 lead going into the half.

In the fourth quarter, the Spurs outscored the Magic 31-17, with ©amaniè scoring 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter. The Magic brought the Spurs' lead down to 15 with 10:59 left in the fourth, which was the closest they would get for the remainder of the game.

For the Magic, Law led all scorers with 21 points (8-17 FG, 3-6 3FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with 8 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. B.J. Johnson finished the game with 16 points in 37 minutes.
