Austin FC News Release
Frisco, TEXAS - Austin FC fell in a narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Dallas on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium, courtesy of a late winner by Nkosi Tafari.
The first half was cagey, as each side maintained its shape and probed the other for open spaces. Alex Ring registered the game's only shot on target before halftime, hitting a low shot at Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes.
The game began to stretch in the second half. Owen Wolff tested Paes again, and Brad Stuver made a strong save to deny Eugene Ansah. In the 67th minute, Austin were reduced to 10 men after Dani Pereira received his second yellow card of the night.
The Verde & Black came close to scoring in stoppage time, when Jon Gallagher's deflected shot caromed off the crossbar. Dallas then found the net in the 97th minute, with Tafari heading in Marco Farfan's cross to decide the game.
