
New England Revolution Transfer Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović to Chelsea Football Club

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have transferred Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrović to English Premier League club Chelsea Football Club for an undisclosed fee. The transaction opens an international roster slot for New England.
"Djordje Petrović has been an extremely valuable member of our club and a consummate professional during his time in New England," Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. "We thank Djordje for all of his contributions to the Revolution during his time with the club. We wish him the all the best at Chelsea."
Petrović departs New England after totaling 43 regular season starts, including 14 clean sheets, and a league-high 184 saves during his tenure in MLS. His 1.20 career goals against average across 48 matches in all competitions is the best mark in club history among qualifying goalkeepers. This season, the 23-year-old made 22 league appearances, compiling an 11-4-7 record with seven shutouts and a league-best 99 saves. Petrović earned his first MLS All-Star selection, representing New England alongside teammate Carles Gil in the July 19 contest against Arsenal FC, and received four MLS Team of the Matchday nods in 2023.
The Serbia native arrived in New England in 2022 from Serbian SuperLiga club FK Čukarički and proceeded to finish second in Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting despite only making 21 league starts in his debut campaign. Petrović registered seven clean sheets and a league-best four penalty-kick saves last season, en route to Revolution Team MVP and Players' Player of the Year honors.
Petrović, capped twice by the Serbia Men's National Team, last suited up for his country against the United States in an international friendly on Jan. 26. He was again called up by Serbia for a pair of matches against Jordan and Bulgaria in June, appearing on the matchday roster for both contests.
