Augusta Tops Braves

Rome, GA - The Augusta Green Jackets defeated the Rome Braves 4-3 in front of 2,405 fans Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves fall to 23-31 on the season.

Augusta took the early lead in the first inning on a single to center field from Chris Dominguez to plate Nick Liles for the 1-0 score. The Green Jackets would add a second run in the fifth on a suicide squeeze from Juan Martinez to score Dan Cook.

Rome cut the lead in half in the sixth inning when Braeden Schlehuber scored on a Cory Harrilchak single to right to make it 2-1. Augusta extended their lead in the seventh with a two RBI single from Evan Crawford to plate Luke Anders and Hector Sanchez.

The Braves would close the gap in the ninth inning. After loading the bases, Harrilchak scored on a wild pitch followed by a Christian Bethancourt sacrifice fly to plate Mycal Jones, but the Green Jackets held on for the 4-3 final.

Brian Irving (3-1) picks up the win for Augusta while Rome's Brett DeVall (2-3) gets the loss. Jose Castilla earns his first save of the year for the Green Jackets.
