Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack enter the weekend after climbing back to the .500 mark and gaining points in their last four games and look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they travel to Ottawa, Belleville and Kingston.

After being fitted for sports goggles last week, it is unknown at this time whether or not Matt Petgrave will be in the lineup. The Attack re-assigned goaltender J.P. Cesario yesterday, meaning Scott Stajcer and Jordan Binnington will split the goaltending duties from here on out. The Attack are only allowed to dress three overage players, so Brett Appio is expected to be a scratch this weekend. Defenseman Kurtis MacDermid has served his one game suspension for removing an opponent's helmet in a fight and is travelling with the team this weekend.

Attack @ Ottawa, Friday November 4th

"H"Ottawa - The 67's have a had a hot start to the 2011/2012 season and sit perched atop the Eastern Conference with 22 points and a 10-3-2-0 record. Chris Byrne's group is considered a favourite in the Eastern Conference after bowing out early in the 2011 post season to the Sudbury Wolves. The 67's are lead offensively by Sean Monahan, Tyler Toffoli and Shane Prince who are all averaging over 1.5 points per game. Ottawa is also the 2nd least penalized team in the Eastern Conference and the highest scoring team, averaging over 4 goals per game.

Last 10 Games - 7-2-1-0 (1st in East Division)

Look Out For - The goal scoring on the team speaks for itself, but the guy that wins them many games is goaltender Peter Mrazek. Mrazek is in his third OHL season and second as the teams #1 guy. The import goaltender has won 9 games in 14 starts and currently sits with a 2.87 GAA and a .914 save percentage. This guy can flat out steal a game if the Ottawa snipers run cold.

Attack @ Belleville, Saturday November 5th

Running of the Bulls - Belleville doesn't seem to score a tonne of goals, but they don't allow many either. The Bulls are averaging 2.73 goals for per game while they are allowing 3.26 against. The Bulls are lead up front by 2010 First Rounder, Brendan Gaunce who has managed to bulge the twine 8 times while adding 6 helpers. The really interesting thing to watch out for is if the speedy Attack forwards use the larger ice surface in Belleville to their advantage. Players such as Daniel Catenacci, Artur Gavrus, Joseph Blandisi, Gemel Smith, Cameron Brace and Jarrod Maidens should excel together on a bigger ice surface.

Last 10 Games - 6-4-0-0 (4th in the East Division)

Look Out For - Daniil Zharkov. The Russian Import just joined the Bulls this past week and notched two goals in his first game. The 6'3, 200lb forward has a dynamic skill set and can break a game open at any time.

Attack @ Kingston, Sunday November 6th

Cold "Front" - In the summer time, newly appointed Frontenacs General Manager Doug Gilmour made no bones about the fact that the Kingston Frontenacs were in full rebuild mood. Their 2011 1st Round Pick Max Domi was shipped to London for a boatload of picks while other veterans were traded in favour of developing younger talent. The Frontenacs still have some talent up front with several players venturing into the double digit point totals. Cody Alcock, Darcy Greenaway and Tyler Brown are all in the double digit club while Ryan Spooner is not far behind with 9 points.

Last 10 Games - 1-7-2-0 (5th in the East Division)

Look Out For - Ryan Spooner. The 2010 Boston Bruins draft pick had a terrific training camp and despite being held to only 9 points so far, the forward is always a threat when he is on the ice. The Kanata, ON. native has scored over 50 points in each of his first three OHL season, including an 81 point performance last season split between the Peterbrough Petes and the Frontenacs.

All games can be heard live with Fred Wallace on 560 CFOS with Grey Motors Bear Radio and all games can be seen live on local Rogers TV Channel 53.
