Asheville's Chaidez Named Astros MiLB Pitcher of the Month

ASHEVILLE - The Houston Astros announced their April Players of the Month and Asheville's Adrian Chaidez was the recipient of the Pitcher award. Chaidez was also named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18-24.

In the month of April, plus his most recent appearance which came on May 1, the right-hander recorded a 2.45 ERA (5ER/18.1IP) with 27 strikeouts, 0.89 WHIP and a .164 opponent batting average in five appearances including two starts for High-A Asheville.

Chaidez currently ranks tied for second in strikeouts, tied for third in WHIP, tied for fourth in opponent batting average and fifth in ERA in the South Atlantic League.

On April 20, Adrian's first career start, the South Gate California native pitched six perfect innings with nine strikeouts against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.

The Astros Player of the Month award went to former Tourist and current Corpus Christi Hooks infielder Enmanuel Valdez. Valdez hit 21 Home Runs and drove in 72 with Asheville in 2021.
