Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive took the field in front of a crowd of 7,554, which is the second largest attendance in Drive history to play the Rome Braves for the first game in the six game homestand. The Drive defeated the Braves 4-2.

Shane Drohan secured the win after six innings pitched, while Andrew Hoffman went home with a loss after two innings pitched.

The first inning went in favor of the Braves. Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a dinger to the parking lot to put Rome on the board. Greenville's Ceddanne Rafaela made first on a fielding error, then stole second and third to be in scoring position. Unfortunately, he was left stranded.

Stephen Scott leveled the score on a sacrifice fly ball to right field that brought Gilberto Jimenez home in the second inning. Nick Yorke homered one to right and brought Nicholas Northcut home with him. This put the Drive up 3-1. After the homerun, Tyler McDonough walked but was left stranded.

The next four frames were scoreless, but in the seventh inning Landon Stephens came home off the bat of Tyler Tolve.

The Drive answered in the eighth with Gilberto Jimenez's RBI and added an insurance run.

Greenville pitcher Cody Scroggins got the job done, and the game was won in the top of the ninth.

The Drive will be back to play tomorrow at 2:05 for the only weekday afternoon game of the season taking on Rome once again.
