Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS have announced in conjunction with the NHL's Washington Capitals that defenseman Dean Arsene has signed an NHL two-way contract for the next two seasons. Per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Capitals VP/General Manager George McPhee.

"Dean Arsene means a great deal to this franchise and to this community, and we are very glad he is returning to help defend HERSHEY'S Calder Cup title," said BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst. "He is a man of character and integrity whose on-ice play speaks for itself."

A fan favorite for his physical style of play and his extensive work in the community, Arsene returns for his fourth season in a HERSHEY uniform in 2006-07 after making his BEARS debut on January 21, 2004. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native enters the upcoming campaign having played in 146 regular season games for HERSHEY, including a career-best 68 AHL contests in 2005-06.

"I'm very happy to be coming back to HERSHEY, it's the only place in the AHL I wanted to be", said Arsene. The BEARS organization has done a lot for me, and I've made a lot of friends in the community and in schools around the area. I can't wait to get back to try and defend our championship."

Season tickets for HERSHEY'S 2006-07 season are available now by calling (717) 508-BEAR. Several different ticket plans are available. The BEARS will open the 2006-07 regular season home schedule at GIANT Center on Saturday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Bob Ancharski at (717) 508-BEAR.
