
Iowa Stars add defenseman

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Des Moines-based American Hockey League (AHL) team has signed defenseman Mark Ardelan to an AHL contract. Keeping with club policy, terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
The 23-year-old Ardelan completed his second professional season skating for the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) last season. While in Manchester, the 5-11, 200-pounder registered nine goals, 21 assists and 36 penalty minutes in 62 games: 62(9/21/30)62. His 2004-05 rookie season saw him finish third among ECHL defensemen and first among ECHL rookie defenseman with 47 points, (15/32/47), as a member of the South Carolina Stingrays.
"Mark is a solid two-way defenseman and will provide depth to our blueline in Iowa", stated Scott White, Iowa's Director of Hockey Operations.
The left-handed defenseman hails from Avonlea, Saskatchewan.
