KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - An armed forces family reunited at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System before Sunday's game between the Kannapolis Intimidators and Lakewood BlueClaws. Before the game, 7-year-old Gizelle Eady threw out a ceremonial first pitch to her father, United States Army Captain Gerald Eady, who was disguised in full catchers gear behind the plate. Following the pitch, Captain Eady took of his mask to surprise his daughter.

Eady returned to the United States over the weekend following a 9-month deployment oversees. He served as a logistics officer at Camp Arifjan. This was not Captain Eady's first time on a baseball diamond. He played right field in the Seattle Mariners organization from 1996-96, reaching as high as the Advanced-A California League with the Lancaster JetHawks in his final season.

Gizelle was joined on the field for the ceremonial first pitch by her younger brother, 2-year-old Gerald II, and her mother Claudette. Gizelle turned seven on Friday.

The Kannapolis Intimidators are in the middle of a 7-game home stand with games through Tuesday, May 10, at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Before Sunday's game, the team welcomed hundreds of students from Cabarrus County Schools who earned a ticket to the game as part of the Intimidators Reading All-Stars Program presented by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
