Arkansas Rivercatz News Release

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Round 1 of the in-state battle between the Arkansas Aeros and Arkansas RiverCatz went to the host Aeros on Sunday night as they downed their brethren from Pine Bluff, 146-116, in front of 545 people at the All-Star Sports Arena.

With former University of Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson on hand to watch four of his former pupils and his grandson play, it was ex-Hog Larry Satchell's backboard-shattering slam dunk with 1:16 remaining that ended the contest a touch earlier than expected.

The 4-0 Aeros had seven players in double figures in the contest with Daryan Selvy's 33 points and 10 rebounds leading the way for Bob Hoffman's crew. Curtis Haywood followed with 19 for the Aeros.

The RiverCatz (2-1) were led by former Razorback Kareem Reid's 32 points. Reid was 10 of 16 from the field and 9 of 11 at the free-throw line in the contest. The Aeros, who led 80-60 at intermission, outrebounded the RiverCatz 56-30 and shot 52.6% from the field.

After four straight home games to open the season, the Aeros take to the road Thursday night when they travel to Dallas to meet the Texas Tycoons. The RiverCatz, meanwhile, will meet the Tycoons the following night in Dallas.
