Tycoons avenge defeat, down RiverCatz 135-100

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- The Texas Tycoons avenged a 19-point defeat last weekend to down the Arkansas RiverCatz 135-100 Friday night at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

The Tycoons (16-5) had lost 147-128 Saturday to the 10-7 RiverCatz. On Friday, the Tycoons rallied from a two-point deficit at the end of the first quarter on their way to the 35-point victory.

Texas shot 62 percent from the field in and outrebounded the RiverCatz 61-31 in the contest.

Texas was led by Donnie Beacham and Benny West who each had a double-double at halftime. Beacham finished the game with 36 points and 20 rebounds, while West pumped in 26 while pulling down 14 rebounds.

Arkansas shot just 38.8 percent from the field. The RiverCatz were led by Kareem Reid's 33 points, while Festus Hawkins put home 14 more to go with 14 rebounds.

Up next for the RiverCatz is a home meeting Wednesday night against the South Alabama Bounce.

The Tycoons are off until Feb. 2 when they travel to Waco to face the Wranglers.
