Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
January 19, 2006 Orleans, Massachusetts: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) are excited to announce the signing of forward Scott Hazelton. Hazelton is a big time scorer who possesses an NBA caliber game to go with a strong 6'8 frame.
Hailing from Somerville, Massachusetts, Hazelton was a McDonald's All American selection at Central Catholic High School while leading them to a State Championship in 1999. At the University of Connecticut, Hazelton played alongside current NBA stars Ben Gordon, Caron Butler, and Emeka Okafor. He completed his collegiate eligibility at the University of Rhode Island where he was an All-Atlantic 10 selection.
Hazelton was the leading scorer, and playoff MVP, on the Cape Cod Frenzy's championship team in the Boston Premier Pro Exposure Summer League. In August, he suited up for Team Boston in the EBC America Tournament at the famed Rucker Park, and scored 24 points in a head-to-head match up with Brandon Roy, the #6 pick in the 2006 NBA draft. He has played professionally overseas in Portugal, Luxembourg, and Sweden. Last season, he was the league MVP in Luxembourg for Black-Star Mersch.
"We are ecstatic to get a player of Scott's caliber as we begin to mold our team for a playoff run. We've stumbled a bit lately to the league's best teams, and we feel Scott will help us get over the top," exclaimed Frenzy General Manager Ian McCarthy.
Hazelton is expected to join 2007 ABA All Star selection Rob Sanders in the frontcourt to form one of the most potent forward combinations in minor league basketball.
Scott Hazleton will be in uniform as the Frenzy travel on the road to face the Newark Express this Saturday January 20th at 7:00 PM. Cape Codders will get their first chance to see him when the Frenzy's arch rival, the Vermont Frost Heaves, come to town on February 3rd at Nauset Regional High School. Tickets are available online at www.capecodfrenzy.com via E-Ticket or at the door.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
