
Frenzy Begins Defense of Title

July 9, 2007 Boston, Massachusetts: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) began the defense of their title in the Boston Premiere Pro Exposure League last night with a 149-142 overtime victory over the Meerkats.
The Frenzy led by 14 points at halftime, and extended that lead to 20 in the third quarter. Behind the impressive offensive play of 6'3 guard Mike Hadley, the Meerkats rallied to take a 3 point lead in the final three minutes. Cape Cod hung tough and forced overtime.
In the overtime, Dwight Brewington took over the game, scoring 7 straight points to give the Frenzy a lead they would not relinquish. Brewington, a 6'5 swingman who played for Providence College as well as Liberty, scored a game high 51 points. His backcourt mate, 6'6 point guard Eric Downie (Salem State), added 40 more to go with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Souleymane Wane (Connecticut) played a brilliant game with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Raheim Lamb contribued 16 points and 6 boards.
The Frenzy face another foe in the Boston Premiere Pro Exposure League tomorrow night at 6:30 pm at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. On Friday, they resume their schedule in the Greater Springfield Pro Am Basketball League (GSPABL) at 7:45 pm versus Vermont.
