Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Boston, Massachusetts: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) began the weekend, Friday night, with a 97-87 victory in the Greater Springfield Pro Am against the Vermont Knights (not to be confused with the Vermont Frostheaves). 6'5 guard Dwight Brewington (Providence/Liberty) led the Frenzy with a game high 38 points. Eric Downie (Salem State) also chipped in 23 points. Sedal Jones scored 34 for the Knights.
On Saturday the Frenzy returned to the Boston Premiere Pro League at the Massachusetts College of Arts, and handled the "Champions" 142-124. Brewington scored a game high 47 points on 13-20 from the field and 15-18 from the free throw line. He also added 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Bruce Seals, the son of the former ABA and NBA player of the same name, scored 29 points for the Frenzy on 8-13 from the NBA three point line. Scott Hazelton added 25.
On Sunday, Cape Cod faced Go Get It Entertainment and emerged with a 111-101 win. Frenzy forward Andre Rollins led the Frenzy with 33 points, Bruce Seals scored 27, and Raheim Lamb added 25. 6'11 Frenzy center Mike Commane, who has shown steady progress this summer, added 14 points.
Tuesday night Cape Cod played the "Champions" in a rematch. This time their opponent was much feistier. The "Champions" managed to come back from a 20 point deficit and tie the game late in the fourth quarter. However the Frenzy managed to pull out the game and win 137-131 down the stretch. Dwight Brewington scored 42 points, Eric Downie 26, Scott Hazelton 21, and Jamaal Wise 21 for the Frenzy. Mike Commane had another strong performance with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
Up next for the Frenzy is a rematch against the Meerkats in the Boston Premier Pro League. This time around the Meerkats should be reinforced with 6'9 Bennett Davis (Northeastern), 6'8 center Omari Peterkim (Boston University), and speedy point guard Derek Coleman (Robert Morris). It should be a great game. And it gets no easier in the Greater Springfield Pro Am Basketball League, on Friday night at 7:45 the Cape Cod Frenzy take on undefeated Cambyland from Connecticut, featuring Charles Easterling aka "The Beast".
