Jersey Express News Release
Randolph, NJ. Attention all Randolph and Morris County residents: It's time once again to get out, get fit and have fun...all at the same time!
Randolph Township will host its fourth "Stroll, Roll or Run" event on Sunday, August 5th at Freedom Park on Millbrook Avenue. The event is coordinated in conjunction with Saint Clare's Health System in an effort to promote a Healthy Randolph for 2007. Runners, walkers and cyclists of all ages are invited to take part in this program which will occur on Randolph's famous trail system.
New for the August event is a free basketball mini-clinic which will be put on by coaches, players and staff from the American Basketball Association's (ABA) Jersey Express at 11 am. The ABA brought you Julius "Dr. J" Erving and Moses Malone, defined modern-day basketball, adopted the three-point shot and created dynamic teams like the New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers!
"We are very pleased that the Jersey Express will be partnering with Randolph Township for this important health awareness event," proclaimed Randolph Mayor Michael Obremski. "Whether individuals want to run, walk, bike or now, play some basketball with professional athletes, we strongly encourage Randolph and Morris County families to come to this terrific event on August 5th."
Health screenings, including blood pressure, pulse rate and Body Mass Index will be conducted by staff from Saint Clare's Hospital and the Randolph Township Health Department. The Jersey Express will have information and promotional items for all participants.
The basketball clinic kicks-off at 11 am at the Freedom Park basketball courts. Individuals interested in the "Stroll, Roll or Run" are asked to show up at the park at 12:45 pm for registration with a 1 pm kick-off.
The first 50 walkers and runners will be able to pick up a new pedometer to keep track of their steps. Cyclists of all ages must wear helmets for safety. The first 50 cyclists will receive a complimentary bell for their bicycle. And as a thank you for participating, individuals of all ages will receive complimentary water and a coupon for a free, out-of-this world, healthy smoothie at Cold Stone Creamery in Randolph on Rt. 10 & Center Grove Road.
Randolph's "Stroll, Roll or Run" Health and Wellness campaign for 2007 is sponsored by the Township of Randolph, Randolph Township School District and Randolph PTA, Saint Clare's Health System, Marty's Reliable Cycle, West Morris Area YMCA and Cold Stone Creamery of Randolph.
Event occurs rain or shine. For more information, call the Township Manager's Office at 973 989 7058 or check out the Randolph Township website at 222.randolphjn.org or visit www.newarkexpress.com or www.abalive.com.
