November 13, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Quad City Riverhawks News Release

Davenport- The Quad City Riverhawks ABA Professional basketball team won their first game of the 2006-2007 season. The Riverhawks won 107 - 98 defeating the Anderson Champions.

A different Riverhawks team showed up Monday night, not only from a roster standpoint, but an overall team effort standpoint. Turnovers which haunted the Riverhawks in the home opener were not as frequent. The Riverhawks had a comfortable 53-48 lead heading into the half as 6'5" Iowa State University grad Anthony Davis led the attack with 10 points and Point Guard Lonnie Randolph chipped in 9 of his game high 27.

The unique ABA 3-D conversion scoring and a game total 9 3-pointers ignited the Riverhawks as they upped their lead to double digits in the third quarter. Randolph caught fire with 18 of his 27 points in the second half. Davis ended up with a team leading 11 rebounds. Newcomer Jason Faulkner had 20 points and 8 rebounds while fellow newcomer SirValiant Brown scored 9 points in his debut. Jamarr Hardy led the Anderson Champions with 16.

The Riverhawks are home for a pair of games starting Friday, November 17 against the St. Louis Stunners and Saturday with a return engagement with the Minnesota Ripknees with both games starting at 7:05pm. Tickets are available by logging onto http://www.etix.com, visiting the Riverhawks office at the NW Bank Tower in Bettendorf or are available at Marycrest prior to the game.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
