
Anderson Once Again Honored

Davenport, IA- Quad City Riverhawk Bobby Anderson was once again honored last week, this time by the Premier Basketball League. The 6'6 guard/forward from Peoria, IL was named to the League's 2008 All-Playoff Team. Anderson tallied a double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds in a 102-93 loss to the Arkansas Impact in the West Division Championship game.
For the 2008 season, Anderson averaged 17.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game leading the Riverhawks to a 15-5 record and a PBL West Division Regular Season Championship. Earlier this month Anderson was named league MVP by the minor league basketball website www.usbasket.com.
Anderson is considered a leading candidate for the league's MVP and other end of the end season awards. Head Coach LaTroy Farrow is a candidate for Coach of the Year. PBL end of the season awards will be announced in the next few weeks.
PBL Adds Two More Teams The Quad City Riverhawks will have two more new foes to battle on the hardwood during the 2009 season. The league has added the Toronto Lazers and the Southeast Asian All-Stars to the league's roster of teams. The Lazers will play out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada while the All-Stars will be a traveling team consisting of top players from southeast Asia.
The addition of Toronto and Southeast Asia brings the total number of PBL expansion franchise up to three. In February the league announced that Buffalo, NY would field a team for the 2009 season.
Bounce Passes: - The Quad City Riverhawks will hold their first tryout camp for the 2009 season on May 3rd. The camp will be held at Beyond the Baseline, 1524 W.12th Street, Davenport, IA, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Entry fee for the tryout camp is $50 prior to the camp and $75 day of camp.
