Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts selected eight players in tonight's 2014 CFL Draft. The Double Blue kicked off the first round with a huge trade that saw them land the third overall choice, selecting RB Anthony Coombs. The club went on to take seven more players including DB Eric Black, the brother of current Argonauts' safety Matt Black. In all, Toronto selected four players on offence and four players on defence.

Commented Toronto Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, "We were very happy with this year's draft. We got the player that we had targeted early, and then surrounded that pick with our other positional needs. Our personnel staff and coaches did a great job in their preparation and we can't wait to start the season."

Below is the summary of the Toronto Argonauts' 2014 CFL Draft:

ROUND OVERALL PLAYER COLLEGE

1 3 RB Anthony Coombs Manitoba

3 21 DL Jaskaran Dhillon UBC

4 33 LB Thomas Miles Manitoba

4 36 FB Alexandre Dupuis Montreal

5 38 DB Eric Black St. Mary's

5 42 WR Evan Pszczonak Windsor

6 51 WR Tore Corrado SFU

7 60 DL Kirby Fletcher Acadia

Commented Anthony Coombs, " It has been a month of waiting with a lot of uncertainty, and to be picked in the top 3 of the CFL Canadian Draft by a great organization and a great city is very humbling. I am so excited to get to training camp. I've kept in great shape since the CFL Combine and I am looking forward to competing."

Remarked Jas Dhillon, "I was so thrilled to hear my name called while surrounded by my family and friends. I am extremely excited to know that I am going to Toronto. I look forward to being in training camp and competing with my new teammates."

Thomas Miles commented, "I am ecstatic to be on board. I cannot wait to give it everything I've got in training camp. I was watching online with my parents, my girlfriend and a few other friends, and the stream cut out. When I refreshed it, I saw my name beside Toronto and I was completely floored."

Alexandre Dupuis stated, "I am so excited. I was watching with family and friends, and a bunch of teammates from the University of Montreal who were also draft eligible. I couldn't actually hear a thing when my name was called, but once I found out I was coming to Toronto I had a huge smile on my face. I can't wait to put the helmet on."

Commented Eric Black, "I could not have written this story any better. It's been a dream of mine for a while, and watching Matt play for the Double Blue pushed me a lot further than I thought I could go. This is an amazing opportunity to not only play with my brother, but also for the city in which I grew up. It is an absolute dream come true."

Remarked Evan Pszczonak (PRO: PUSH-ON-ACK), " This is a surreal feeling. I have dreamed about playing in the CFL since I was a little kid and I cannot believe I am going to have the opportunity to live it out. I had 20 friends and family with me watching the draft, and they are just as excited as I am. I cannot wait to compete once training camp rolls around."

Tore Corrado commented, "It is an honour to be drafted by Toronto. I've always admired the Argonauts and I'm very excited to get to work at training camp. I train with Spencer Watt in the off-season, he also went to SFU, and I've always aspired to make it to the next level. This is truly overwhelming."

Kirby Fletcher stated, "I was watching the CFL.ca Draft Tracker and I was hoping to see my name come up, and then I got a call from Coach Milanovich and I was completely speechless - I still am. It's starting to sink in a little bit, and I am so excited to come in and compete every day to see how I stack up against the pros."
