Montreal, May 13, 2014 - With their first pick in the opening round of the 2014 CFL Canadian Draft, 5th overall, the Montreal Alouettes selected Universite de Montreal Carabins offensive lineman David Foucault.

Foucault (6'8'', 320 lbs.), who was drafted by his hometown team, played four seasons with the Carabins. Upon his arrival in 2010, the LaSalle, Quebec native started his CIS career on the defensive line before moving to the offensive line during his second season.

In 2012, the 25-year-old helped the Carabins to an 8-1 record while scoring 299 points, the second-highest total in the Quebec Conference. He anchored the offensive line that allowed running back Rotrand Sene to amass 813 rushing yards-top in his conference that same season.

The Alouettes have traded the 4th and 13th overall picks in today's CFL Draft to the Ottawa REDBLACKS in exchange for their 5th and 10th overall picks.
