
Anthony McIver joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that LHP Anthony McIver will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and that RHP Andro Cutura has been placed on the 7-day DL with right elbow inflammation. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins selected McIver in the 15th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of San Diego. He spent last season at Elizabethton, posting a 3-1 record and 4.61 ERA in 15 relief appearances with one save. In 27.1 IP, he allowed 33 hits and 15 runs (14 earned) with eight walks and 31 strikeouts.
Cutura has made six starts for the Kernels this season, posting a 3-1 record and 5.14 ERA. In 28 IP, he allowed 25 hits and 17 runs (16 earned) with 15 walks and 28 strikeouts.
McIver is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game at Wisconsin. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the Midwest League maximum of 25, with seven players currently on the DL and one player on the Restricted List.
The Kernels continue a four game road trip at Wisconsin tonight at 6:35 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 17th to open a seven game home stand with games against Beloit and Quad Cities.
