Kettering Health Network Presents "Strike out Stroke" Day
May 13, 2016 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio - Ray Olmor, a stroke survivor, will throw out the first pitch at the Dayton Dragons game on Sunday, May 15, at 2:07 p.m. when Kettering Health Network presents "Strike Out Stroke Day." The Dragons will be hosting the Great Lakes Loons at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton. Strike Out Stroke is a registered trademark of the "Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp."
Olmor was at his home on January 17 of this year when he began to feel dizzy. Soon after, he lost control of his legs, the left side of his body, and even went blind in one of his eyes. Once they arrived on scene, paramedics transported him to Kettering Medical Center.
"The support staff in the ICU at Kettering Medical Center was always present when needed," said Olmor.
He spent two days at Kettering Medical Center before being released. Olmor has regained one hundred percent use of all his faculties since the incident.
Dr. Jody Short was Ray's neurointerventionalist and successfully removed a blood clot from his brain. Ray says that he owes his life to Dr. Short and added that, "time is of the essence when having a stroke."
Kettering Health Network will be on the plaza from noon-2:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Field distributing information about how to spot and prevent a stroke. There will also be a prize wheel and stroke awareness items while supplies last.
