Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The Lincoln Saltdogs earned another come-from-behind win on Friday, scoring six runs over the final three innings to beat St. Paul 8-3. Lincoln improves to 20-13 on the second half of the season, and takes a two-game lead over the Saints in the North Division of the American Association.

Trailing 3-2 entering the top of the seventh, Gavin Dickey led off the frame with a double, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored the tying run on an RBI groundout by Brandon Jones. In the eighth, Albenis Machado walked and went to third on Phil Hawke's single. Steve Alexander followed with a deep flyout to right in foul territory, bringing Machado home with the go-ahead tally. Lincoln then broke the game open in the ninth with four runs. Machado hit a sacrifice fly, Hawke had an RBI single and Rafael Alvarez cracked a two-run double.

The comeback made a winner out of Saltdogs reliever Adam Daniels (7-2), who struck out three of the four batters he faced. Jarrett Gardner had another quality start for Lincoln, allowing three runs on six hits in 6.2 innings pitched. Matt Petrusek got the final out of the eighth inning to preserve a one-run lead at the time, and then pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first save.

Lincoln started the scoring in the second on a solo home run by Alexander, his eleventh of the season. Josh Alley answered for St. Paul with a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the second, and the Saints took the lead in the fourth on a two-run homer by Jeff Eure. Lincoln struck back with a run in the fifth on Machado's RBI single, setting the stage for the late-innings rally.

Hawke, Dickey and Shea McFeely each had two hits for the Saltdogs, with Machado driving in a pair of runs. Alvarez also had two RBI, and Hawke's RBI gives him a team-best 53 on the season.

The two teams play game two of their three-game series Saturday night at 7:05. Righty Justin Knoff will make the start for Lincoln.

The next Saltdogs homestand begins on August 18. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
