In game one of a doubleheader Sioux Falls rallied from deficits of 3-0 and 6-4 to defeat Sioux City 7-6. Canaries CF Beau Torbert answered a three-run rally by the Explorers in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run homer in the bottom half to give Sioux Falls the lead for good. The Canaries then turned the game over to their bullpen. Reliever Andrew Pluta and closer Aaron Cotter did not allow a hit in the final two innings. Cotter earned his sixth save.

Sioux City 8, Sioux Falls 3 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

In the second game Sioux City put up six runs on six hits in the second inning and went on to an 8-3 win, splitting the doubleheader. RF Boomer Berry's three-run bomb was the highlight of the big frame and Berry finished 4-for-4 in the contest. Starter Ty Marotz pitched 6 2/3 innings for Sioux City and was the winner. His record now stands at 4-9. Noel Baca suffered the loss for Sioux Falls, allowing seven earned runs on ten hits to drop to 3-4.

Grand Prairie 17, Shreveport-Bossier 4

Grand Prairie scored 15 runs in the first four innings and easily took care of Shreveport-Bossier 17-4. Airhogs CF Mike Conroy and 1B Javier Brito each drove in five runs, RF Aaron Garza went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and LF Chad Gabriel connected for his seventh homer of the season. Grand Prairie starter Matt Green pitched seven innings for the victory to improve to 6-5. The Captains used seven pitchers in the game, five of which allowed at least two earned runs.

Wichita 4, Ft. Worth 2

Wichita starter Derek Blacksher became the first pitcher in the American Association to reach 10 wins this season as he allowed just one run on five hits to lead the Wingnuts to a 4-2 victory at Ft. Worth. He has won five straight decisions and eight of his last nine. With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Wichita 3B Michael Thompson drove in two runs with a triple down the left field line. He would score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly to push the Wichita lead to 4-1. Doug Hurn come on in the bottom of the ninth and worked a scoreless frame to earn his third save.

Lincoln 8, St. Paul 3

HR: LIN- Steve Alexander (11); SP- Josh Alley (1), Jeff Eure (4)

Leading 4-3 after eight innings, Lincoln tacked on four runs in the ninth to pull away from St. Paul and earn an 8-3 win. DH Steve Alexander hit his 11th homer of the season for the Saltdogs who increased their lead in the North Division to two games over St. Paul with the victory. Jarrett Gardner pitched 6 2/3 innings for Lincoln, allowing three earned runs on six hits. He received no decision. Saints starter Mitch Wylie was effective for six innings, allowing just two runs, but the St. Paul bullpen surrendered six runs in the final three innings.
