
Another One-Run Game Dooms M-Braves in Series Opener

Jackson, TN - The Mississippi Braves lost their second straight one-run game on Sunday night, falling in the series opener to the Jackson Generals 2-1 at Pringles Park.
Randall Delgado pitched a gem, but takes the no-decision. He allowed just one run on five hits over seven frames, striking out seven. Generals starter James Paxton was also solid, matching Delgado's runs and hits over 6 1/3 innings. Paxton struck out eight. Each took no-decisions on the night.
The Generals (15-21, 53-53) loaded the bases in the eighth in a tied 1-1 game, and plated the winning run on a James McOwen RBI single to left.
Mississippi (16-20, 41-65) took a 1-0 lead when Ed Lucas hit his third home run as an M-Brave in the second inning. Jackson tied the game in the sixth when Rich Poythress grounded out to third to score Vinny Catricala, who led off the inning with his second triple of the year.
The win went to Jackson's Stephen Pryor, who struck out five Braves in 1 2/3 innings. Benino Pruneda took the loss.
The Mississippi Braves and Jackson Generals do battle again on Monday night at 7:05 PM CDT. Mississippi has yet to name a starting pitcher.
