MOBILE, Ala. - Prior to tonight's contest between the Mobile BayBears and Chattanooga Lookouts from Hank Aaron Stadium, the BayBears and the Arizona Diamondbacks have announced the following roster move.

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt has been promoted to the Arizona Diamondbacks and is expected to make his major league debut tonight against the San Francisco Giants. Goldschmidt set a BayBears' franchise-record this season with 30 home runs and was only three away from the RBI mark as he knocked in 94 runs to lead the Southern League.

Goldschmidt became the most prolific slugger in BayBears' history and started the season with a bang as he clubbed two home runs in his Double-A debut in Carolina on Opening Day. Goldschmidt was a Southern League All-Star and appeared in this year's XM All-Star Futures Game.

Goldschmidt was drafted by the D-backs in 2009 as an eighth-round pick and was named California League MVP in 2010 as he belted 35 dingers for Single-A Visalia. He joins pitchers Bryan Shaw and Ryan Cook as members of the 2011 BayBears to get promoted to the big leagues this season. He will wear number 44 as a member of the Diamondbacks.

The BayBears now have 23 active players with 2 on the disabled list.
