Lookouts Even Series Over BayBears

MOBILE, Ala. - A four-run first inning propelled the Chattanooga Lookouts as they defeated the BayBears with a 6-4 final on Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium to level their five-game set at a game apiece.
Bryan Henry allowed the Lookouts (57-50, 22-15) to load the bases in the top of the first with one out before Kyle Russell popped out down the right field line to bring home Elian Herrera. The next batter, Griff Erickson, hammered a three-run homer to put Chattanooga up by four.
Henry didn't surrender another run as he lasted five innings. The BayBears (65-42, 27-10) started to nip at the Chattanooga cushion early with a tally in each of the first two innings against Nathan Eovaldi. Taylor Harbin cracked a double to left-center, scoring Adam Eaton but Ryan Wheeler was thrown out at home.
In the second, a fielder's choice by Eaton allowed Kyle Greene touch the plate. Eovaldi limited the BayBears to only three hits in his five frames. He was replaced by Ethan Martin (2-2) in the sixth, and the BayBears capitalized to even the score at 4-4 with a two-run blast from Marc Krauss.
Chattanooga quickly jumped back on top in the seventh against Josh Ellis (2-2). Jaime Pedroza drew a lead-off walk and scored on a knock from Alfredo Silverio to give the Lookouts a 5-4 edge. Scott Rice coughed up three straight singles to start the bottom of the seventh, but the BayBears were unable to score. They didn't even get another hit the rest of the night as Javier Solano (S, 1) tossed a pair of perfect innings.
The BayBears take on the Lookouts in game three of their five-game series on Tuesday night at 7:05. Right-hander Wes Roemer (7-6) starts for the BayBears against fellow righty Chris Withrow (3-5).
