
Another big inning costs HiToms

THOMASVILLE, N.C. - Asheboro scored seven runs in the third inning to turn a 2-0 defict into a 7-2 lead as they defeated Thomasville 11-6 at Finch Field on Wednesday night.
Asheboro (12-3) scored all seven of their runs in the third off Kyle Barbeck (L, 0-1) who was making his first start of the season for the HiToms. The Copperheads had the first four guys reach base before an out was recorded. In all, Asheboro sent 11 men to the plate in the third to break the game wide open.
After a shaky first inning where he allowed three consecutive hits with a run and a solo home run in the second, Christian MacDonald (W, 1-0) worked six strong innings with five strikeouts keeping Thomasville (6-7) hitters off balance all night.
The Tommies made the game interesting in the seventh with a three spot on an RBI single from Jacob Rogers and a Alex Williams pinch hit RBI double, however it was too little too late as the HiToms dropped their second game to Asheboro 11-6.
Thomasville is back in action at Finch Field on Thursday night when they host Martinsville at 7:00. It will be a Thirsty Thursday with selected 12 ounce beer on sale for a dollar, additionally it will be a beach party night and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite beach wear and enjoy Coastal Plain League Baseball.
