Paulino's Arm Helps Steamers to 2-0 Win

EDENTON, NC - Esterlin Paulino pitched seven, shut-out, one-hit innings for the Steamers en route to picking up his second win of the season, defeating the Wilson Tobs 2-0 at Historic Hicks Field.

The Steamers catcher Kevin Whitehead knocked in Mitch Wells with an RBI double in the bottom of the second to give the Steamers a 1-0 lead. With the double Whitehead picked up RBI number four on the season and that was all the Steamers needed to win the game.

For insurance Edenton added a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI walk issued to Mitch wells that brought home Brett Christopher from third and gave the Steamers a 2-0 lead.

Right-handed pitcher Jordan Glover came in and pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning and after walking the lead-off man in the ninth gave way to the lefty Dustin Quattrocchi who sealed the win for Edenton with a double play ball and a strikeout for his first save of the season.

The Steamers defense, which had only completed six double plays through 12 games, had three in the win against Wilson. Brian Blasik doubled off a runner after making a nice running catch in the fourth inning. There was a strike them out, throw them out completed in the sixth to end the inning. Finally, in the top of the ninth Joey Wendle stepped on second and threw to first for a double play that recorded the first two outs of the frame.

Edenton welcomes the Forest City Owls into Historic Hicks Field tomorrow night for the only match-up in 2011 between the teams.
