Angels Recall Kohn, Option Bell to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (July 26, 2010) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Kohn from Triple-A Salt Lake and optioned right-handed pitcher Trevor Bell to the Bees. In addition, right-handed pitcher Matt Palmer completed his rehab assignment with the Bees today and was optioned to Salt Lake.
Kohn, 24, has appeared in 26 games of relief for the Bees in 2010, owning a 3-2 record with a 1.95 ERA and eight saves. He has also appeared in 15 games of relief for Double-A Arkansas this season, owning a 2-2 record with a 2.45 ERA and three saves. The Camden, S.C. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 13th round of the 2008 draft.
Bell, 23, has appeared in 16 games (one start) for the Angels in 2010, owning a 1-2 record with a 6.75 ERA and 18 strikeouts. In six games (all starts) for the Bees this season, he owns a 2-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and 19 strikeouts. The North Hollywood, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2005 draft.
Palmer, 31, was placed on the Disabled List on May 7 with a sprained right shoulder. He has appeared in three games of relief during his rehab stint with the Bees, owning a 1-0 record while allowing zero runs in 7.1 innings pitched. Previous to his injury, he appeared in nine games (one start) for the Angels this season, owning a 0-1 record with a 6.26 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched. The Memphis, Tenn. native joined the Angels via free agency in January 2009.
