Albany, N. Y. - Matt Anderson had two goals, but the Albany Devils were defeated by the Norfolk Admirals, 6-3, on Wednesday night at the Times Union Center. The Admirals used four goals in the first period to pace themselves to their seventh win of the season (7-3-1-1). The Devils suffered their third-straight setback and are now 6-6-0-0.

Norfolk's quick start began 6:23 into the game when Blair Jones slid a rebound off of his own shot past Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee to give Norfolk a 1-0 lead.

The visitors blew the game open late in the frame when they scored three goals in a 1:35 span. The first tally came with 3:15 remaining in the period when Paul Szczechura scored on a one-timer off a tic-tac-toe setup on the power-play. Stefano Giliati scored his first goal of the season 40 seconds later, which was followed by James Wright's eventual game-winning, one-time goal to make it a 4-0 game. The Admirals held on to the lead for the rest of the way.

Albany got on the board thanks to Anderson, who scored with 49.9 seconds remaining in the first and extending his point streak to four games. The goal came when Norfolk goaltender Cedrick Desjardins bobbled a shot from his right. Anderson swooped in, picked up the puck, and wrapped it around the net catching Desjardins out of position.

The Devils carried this momentum into the middle period and cut the deficit to one on goals from Nick Palmieri and another from Anderson. Palmieri's backhanded goal was his third in four games, while Anderson scored a rebound goal with 4:18 remaining. Anderson picked up the rebound off of a Mark Fayneshot from the right point and deposited the puck into the Admirals' net.

But, the Admirals doubled their lead when Johan Harju scored on a five-on-three advantage with less than two minutes to go in the period.

Matt Fornataro added an insurance goal for Norfolk midway through the final period when he beat Frazee five hole.

The Devils return to action on Friday when the host the Syracuse Crunch at 7 p.m. The first 2,000 kids (12 and under) will receive a pack of Devils' Logo Bands.
